At around 3,800 meters Lake Titicaca in the Andes is the highest navigable lake in the world. On the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca is Taquile, a tiny island that rises even higher still and is home to almost 3000 people.

Tequile is famous for its colourful hand woven textiles and it is not uncommon to see men knitting as they wander the streets, or in the plaza.
